What happens if there is a fault with the Vehicle? We operate late-model, low kilometer vehicles and maintain them to a higher standard than that recommended by the manufacturer. However sometimes faults can develop, even in modern, well maintained vehicles. Particularly when operating in off-road or rough conditions. If you need roadside assistance, please contact RACQ on 1800 648 058 and quote the vehicle registration number. Issues such as flat batteries, flat tires or low fuel will be rectified by RACQ and there will be no need to notify us. If RACQ cannot rectify the problem, they will contact us and we will work with them and you to get the vehicle to a repairer to have the fault diagnosed and repaired. If the vehicle cannot be repaired in a timely manner, we will attempt to provide you with a substitute vehicle, subject to availability and your location. Some things to keep in mind, particularly if you are operating in remote areas. The more remote you operate the vehicle, the less resources are available. Getting assistance to you, rectifying faults or obtaining parts in remote parts of Australia will likely take significant time and in some cases may take days. Due to the vast distances in Australia, it may also not always be viable or possible to swap you into a substitute vehicle if the vehicle you are using develops a fault. Whilst we will always consider this, we cannot guarantee this option. Roadside assistance is not available everywhere. If you take our vehicle to an area where our Roadside Assist is not available, you will be required to pay for the cost of transporting the vehicle to the nearest RACQ depot or repairer (regardless of fault). Fraser, Moreton and Stradbroke Islands as well as many remote locations are not covered by Roadside Assistance. Whilst we understand that a fault may lead to some delay and inconvenience, Overlander does not pay compensation for missed flights, inconvenience or other loss suffered. We strongly encourage all hirers to take out travel insurance to cover this instance.
-
What happens if there is a Fault with the Camping equipment? We preform a comprehensive quality control check on our vehicles and equipment prior to every rental. However sometimes unexpected faults can develop, particularly when the vehicle is operating in off-road or rough conditions. If a fault develops in the camping equipment and it will not cause too much inconvenience, will likely just take a note and have it rectified when you return. If a fault develops that will cause you inconvenience, we will have to work together to find a solution. For example we may: (depending on your level of technical skill) work with you on the phone to see if you can undertake repairs yourself; ask you to purchase a similar, replacement item and then reimburse you for the cost; or find a local repairer and ask you to take the vehicle to them. We understand that this may delay your journey however these steps will be necessary in order to rectify the fault. Please contact us immediately if you have any problems with your vehicle or accessories.
-
Can I Tow a trailer or caravan? No. Unfortunately our vehicles are not equipped to tow.
-
Where is the best place to camp?Australia has many free and paid camping options, from remote far-away camp sites to boutique caravan and camping parks such as El-Questro Station in W.A. Here is a list of State and Territory National Park websites: Queensland Parks - Click HERE Northern Territory Parks - Click HERE Western Australia Parks - Click HERE We highly recommend the AU WikiCamp app. This app lists hundreds free and paid camp grounds and contains up-to-date reviews from campers who have recently camped at each of the sites.

-
What about the wildlife? We know that Australian wildlife has a particular reputation, however most visitors quickly learn there is nothing really to worry about. -

Important information about Fraser IslandUnfortunately QLD law prohibits rental vehicles on Fraser Island carrying anything on the roof, including a roof top tent. Click HERE to read the legislation. This law may affect your plans, depending on the vehicle you have booked: Toyota Landcruiser and Hilux Trayon are not affected by this law and are permitted to travel to Fraser Island without modification (you will need to store the roof mounted 2nd pare wheel on Hilux Trayon in the rear camper whilst on Fraser). Hilux Adventure and Jeep Gladiator are permitted to travel to Fraser Island however we must remove the roof top tents and awning and will supply you with quality ground tents as an alternative. Note this is not an option for one-way rentals. Please contact us if you book a one-way rental in a Gladiator or Adventure and also plan to visit Fraser Island. Hilux Outback is not set-up to travel to Fraser Island. If you are worried about animals, our experience is that many, many visitors to Fraser sleep on the ground in swags and tents and never have a problem. Also, there are a number of camp grounds on Fraser that have Dingo proof fences erected. Please give us a call, email or message if you would like more info or to discuss.
